Technical Museum of East Iceland
Eight conservation students from the University of Lincoln spent five weeks in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland to help the museum recover from a 2020 mudslide that devastated its facilities. The goal of the project was to catalogue, assess, clean, and repackage high-priority items that would be part of an upcoming exhibition.
I also co-wrote a treatment proposal for a standard diving dress which had been badly affected by the mud. Along with two other students, I created a thorough condition assessment, described different levels of interventive treatment for each element of the suit, and created a plan for the safe removal of the mannequin and redisplay of the suit once clean. This work will be carried out by future student volunteers.
